LWS 6 – Video Mania Part 2 – Slideshows
I hope you all are having a wonderful day, today’s post is a continuation of creating and using videos, and is a mixture of both text and video, so I hope you enjoy it.
So in module 6 – video mania part 2, Sally introduced and explained to us what slide-show presentation videos were and basically to put bluntly slide-show videos are a series of slides displayed in sequence. Now on these slides,it can features anything from:
- Text,
- Images,
- Photographs,
- With or without animations
Next Sally explained to us and demonstrated to us as to why do we want to use slide-show videos?
Well the key advantages are that:
- Slide-show videos are easy to create once you master them
- Slide-show videos help you explains your ideas easily
- People love them and perceive videos to be of greater value
- People can then also share them with others thus making it go “viral”
- Most marketers and online business doing promotions use them
- They help put you ahead of your competition
From that point on after hearing how advantageous slide-show presentation videos are to our online business, we were next shown examples from a collection of Sally’s fantastic slide -show presentation videos that she had created herself before and were show to a vast array of slide-show presentation resources that would be very useful in the near future.
Now before we even get to that stage, we needed to learn how to create them, for those who are unfamiliar with creating a slide-show video, then it’s very easy and very cost effective as well. To start off….
- You need some sort of slide-show creation software such as Powerpoint or Impress
- You need to have a idea or something that you wish to discuss of share
- Then simply open up the software to create, be that Powerpoint or Impress
- You can add texts, images, photographs an even animations.
- If you are doing voice-overs – then you will need a microphone
So what’s next, well after creating the slide-show, you need to create the video, so some type of video capture software such as:
- Camtasia
- Camstudio
- or some other video screen capture software
would be most advisable, and then open you recording software, load your presentation in slide show mode and present with your voice over and that’s it.
The next stage after creating the video, you will need to post-process in a readable format so that it may be published across the internet, ideally you want it in MP4 format and HD where possible. Uploading the video couldn’t be simpler and if you wish to make the most out of using video, then you must up-load to Youtube and anywehre else possible be that your blog site, or using video distributions sites such as TubeMogul.
Now before you go dashing off to create your videos, there are some very “Key Important Points” to Remember when creating a slide-show video:
First you need to plan your slide-show videos, and that means
- a start,
- a middle
- and an ending.
For the start part,
- You need to have a an Intro
- Tell them who you are,
- What your viewer will gain from watching your video
For the middle part:
- You need to deliver content
- Be honest so provide facts that tell but also build in stories that will help sell
- Provide value, be that making someone laugh, put a smile on their face, cheer them up, advice, helps tips, useful links to resources etc…
For the ending, you need to make sure you have a call to action ….. such as:
- Subscribe to channel,
- Share your videos with friends,
- Tell them to visit your website,
- Ask them to leave comments and feedbacks etc……
Remember:
- Try to keep you presentation slides simple and effective i.e. one point per slide
- Try to limit the amount of colours used
- Keep one type of animation transition throughout the slide-show for consistency
- Put or show your URL throughout the video
And finally, if you have been scared to appear on video or create videos, then you really need to step of your comfort zone and
“BE BRAVE”
and most importantly …
Take Action!!!!
There is no point daydreaming about creating videos and then not even putting the effort in and certainly don’t worry if isn’t exactly 100% spot on perfect, just keep making them, keep experimenting, apparently according to Sally, this will help show your growth and people will love to see you going from video newbie to video master.
And so that is all for this week – well…. not really as below is a video of me showing you how I created a slide-show presentation using openoffice impress. I recorded it with camtasia and it lasts about 25 minutes, but don’t worry, I’ve speedED up the clip, so it’s about 3 minutes with some electro music as well in the background to make it more interesting. Hope you all enjoy it and let me know what you think – will perhap create a voice over longer version in future if you guys and gals would like one.
Catch up with you all soon and take care
Nigel
PS: I have enclosed a PDF resource full of great places where you can get a lot of free music to make your presentations dance off the shelf!!!! You can download it from here
Have fun!!!!

No stone unturned lol – and yeah the video did run a bit fast, the actual video in normal speed is approximately 25+ minutes but I figured that since I wanted it be a bit interesting, I thought I would speed it up and I’m surprised by how much features there are hidden behind them menus and tabs within Camtasia Studio.
Hope everything is going well for you and btw crackingblog posts about Facebook Security, you should really make a pdf out of it- would be really useful and perhaps even a great wso too.
You too take care and catch up soon

Hey Nigel
That video rocked mate but you got to do another one slowed down as I think it will help a lot of people that perhaps haven’t got the money to buy Powerpoint.
There aren’t a lot of videos around showing you how to do it with Open Office so if you did it again and maybe added a pdf version hey presto you’ve got a fab product.
Well done Nigel, your doing fab

Hi Dawn
Thanks for the great feedback, really appreciate it and yeah I think I will have to create a slowed down version, lol and hmm… great idea about the PDF, I hadn’t really thought about creating a product yet due to been so occupied with the coaching training, and also the ofline biz and helping parents out. But yeah, as you have wonderfully suggested, I will certainly give it some serious consideration. I might even have to enlist your excellent transcription serivce that I’ve been hearing about. lol. Hope everything is well for you, will pop by blog soon and check if you have a new blog post up.
Catch up on FB later today

You don’t need a transcriptionist Nigel as you could do what Sally does and create a pdf out of the slides.
And it doesn’t have to be a product you sold as you could enter it into giveaways to build your list..
I hope your fear of talking on video hasn’t come back again cause if it has tell me and I’ll keep kicking your butt (lol)
Take care

Hey Kathy,
Firstly before anything else, congratulations on your recent success with Niche blogging and thanks for sharing your video about it, it was truly inspiration and most kind of you.
The entrance and exit screens were pre-loaded templates on Camtasia, called “Target Blue” and yes certainly Sally’s coaching is most excellent, and she has certainly created some awesome student such as yourself.
You too keep up the brilliant productivity Kathy, and looking forward to seeing and hearing more of your success

Hey Nigel
That was COOL I loved watching it actually, very original.
And the music matched perfectly too, great stuff.
I would have linked at the end to an optin form where the viewer could sign up to watch the slower version of the whole video, bet lots of people would part with their email for that.
In fact that could be your thing or your USP…
“fast video boy” ha ha!
(That’s a joke back at ya for the FB guru super power thing you said to me earlier lol)
Catch ya later, Sally

Hey Nigel, you’re a star of the future my friend that was pure brillence. I absolutely loved the video and the fact its fast makes it stand out.
I think Sally made an extremely good point in her comment about the slower version for an email.
After making my first PPP I had a few people ask me how I done it and i’ve been thinking about to show them so much in a short video, never thought of speeding it up.
Got me thinking now mate
I know why i was commenting on the other blog Nigel, I got there via a comment luv link and then subscribed to that RSS, which I’ve just put right.
Excellent video Nigel, congratulations

Hi Barry,
Firstly before anything else, thank you so much for shouting out the post and video for, really appreciate it and will certainly take a look at the FB like issue. I wouldn’t consider myself as a future star yet as I still have to learn from others like yourself who in my mind are “Inter-Galatcial Global Superstars”
As for your videos – I would suggest that speeding up is great if you are going to repeat the same actions numerous time, but if there are variations then then it may be better to show them everything, but instead of one long continous video, perhaps splitting them into key areas like pre-installation, installation, post installation, testing etc…
I look forward seeing your next videos, and thank again for everything, hope you have a wonderful weekend and time watching the matches.
Catch up soon
